National Rainwater and Greywater Initiative
The National Rainwater and Greywater Initiative has rebates of up to $500 to help you with installing rainwater tanks or a greywater treatment system.
By installing a greywater treatment system or rainwater tank you can save money on your water bills and also save the higher quality water that comes out of our taps.

The rebate is available for rainwater tanks including above-ground tanks, below-ground tanks and bladder storage systems. The rebate also covers greywater treatment systems to collect, treat and disinfect your greywater.

There are no restrictions on what type of material your rainwater tank is made out of but it has to store at least 2,000 litres of water, must be connected to a toilet and/or laundry and be installed by a licensed plumber. The minimum capacity of 2,000 litres may be reached by installing two or more smaller tanks.
To get the greywater rebate your system needs to be permanently connected to your waste water pipes and be installed by a licensed plumber.
