Rainwater Tank Rebate and Internal Connection (only) Rebate
The Rainwater Tank and Internal Connection rebates provide ACT households with a rebate of up to $1,000 to purchase and install a water tank, or up to $600 to connect an existing tank to your internal plumbing.
An internal plumbing connection will usually connect your tank to a toilet or a washing machine inside your home. This internal connection lets you use your tank water to replace mains water all year round and helps you maximise the amount of tap water you can save.
To qualify for this rebate, you must:
Homeowners, landlords and renters are eligible to apply for the rebates. If you are renting, you will usually need your landlord's permission before installing and connecting a tank to the internal plumbing.
Rainwater tanks that are installed to satisfy a leasing or development code or other zoning requirements will not be eligible for this rebate.
A number of other conditions apply. Check your eligibility on the ACT Government's Think Water Act Water website.
The Rebates cover water tanks with an internal connection or the internal plumbing connection for existing tanks.
For tanks with an internal connection, the amount you can claim depends on the combined storage capacity of your tank or tanks:
The Internal Connection Rebate for connecting an existing tank to your internal plumbing is up to $600.
